Young People (18-35)

Young People (18-35)

We offer our Wednesday night class for young people to come together to meet like-minded others who are interested in learning and practising meditation, exploring ethics, and hearing and discussing the teachings of the Buddha in a safe and welcoming space.

You don’t need to be a Buddhist, or to have previous experience of meditation; just come along with an open mind and a willingness to be with others who are reflecting on their journey through life.

Each evening begins with a brief breathing space relaxation, and usually includes a short talk on meditation or an aspect of Buddhist teachings, an opportunity for discussion in small groups, a tea break, and meditation in our shrine room.

Everyone of all backgrounds, cultures, and traditions is welcome.

Please arrive for a 6.30pm start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time should I get there?

We start fairly promptly at 6.30pm. You’re welcome to arrive any time from 6:15pm, but please try to not arrive before then as the team may still be setting up. If you arrive late, feel free to slip in quietly and place your coat and shoes in the cloakroom on the left.

Do I need to book?

No – just turn up!

Do I need to be a Buddhist?

The class is especially suited for people who are completely new to meditation and Buddhism, and suitable for everyone, regardless of your religious beliefs.

What should I wear?

There are no special requirements, just whatever is comfortable to sit in.

How much does the class cost?

We don’t charge for our classes, we simply ask that those who are able to do so make a donation to the centre to help us cover our running costs.

The suggested amount, is $5 to $15. Everyone is equally welcome, even if you cannot give anything at all.

We can take donations by card or cash.

Do I have to be 18-35?

The evening is provided for young people, to be comfortable to interact and discuss their current experience. If you're outside this age range, Tuesday nights will suit you better, where there is a wide range of people, ages and experience.
